OOU serial killer Ayomide pleads after murdering his friend Christianah Idowu

Ayomide Adeleye, a 23-year-old philosophy student at Olabisi Onabanjo University (OOU), has provided a chilling account of the murder of his friend, Christianah Idowu, a 300-level student at the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB).

After being arrested and labeled a serial killer, Adeleye confessed to the brutal crime, revealing how he killed Idowu in his family home.

Adeleye recounted that Christianah had come to his house to have her phone repaired. He seized the opportunity to attack her, applying pressure and suppressing her until she stopped struggling. After killing her, he buried her body in a shallow grave behind his house.

In a desperate attempt to extort money, Adeleye demanded ₦3 million from Christianah’s mother but eventually settled for ₦350,000 after the family was unable to provide the initial amount. He instructed the mother to transfer the money to a SportyBet account, believing it would make it harder to trace him. He later asked for an additional ₦10,000, which was all the mother had left.

Adeleye was eventually caught when authorities traced his National Identification Number (NIN) linked to the SportyBet account he used during the ransom negotiations. His arrest has brought attention to his suspected involvement in multiple murders, further cementing his reputation as a serial killer.

He added, “I don’t deserve any mercy for what I have done. At the same time, I ask God to forgive me. What I did was totally wrong and I regret it.”

“I feel remorseful for what I have done. If there’s any way I could be given a second chance, I want to be given one but I deserve death, honestly. I have been planning to kill myself. While I was in the guard room, I tried to look for any sharp object to cut myself so that I would bleed to death.”
