Popular Nigerian rapper Phyno has officially released his highly anticipated album titled “Full Time Job” today, October 4th, 2024. However, what has stirred widespread attention is the inclusion of a verse from socialite Ramon Abbas, famously known as Hushpuppi, on one of the songs.
This collaboration has sparked discussions online, especially considering Hushpuppi’s notorious past. In 2022, Hushpuppi was sentenced to 11 years in a U.S. prison for his involvement in cybercrimes, following his arrest in Dubai in 2020. Despite his incarceration, he has remained in the public eye, most notably earlier this year when he celebrated the birthday of celebrity blogger Tunde Ednut from prison.
Now, Hushpuppi’s voice is featured on Phyno’s new album, delivering a verse that mixes both motivational and emotional themes. In the song, Hushpuppi reflects on life, sharing advice based on his experiences. He emphasizes the importance of running one’s own race at their own pace, reminding listeners that each person’s destination is unique. He further urges people not to be pressured by others’ success, but instead, to focus on self-improvement, as life is too short to be spent worrying about others.
This unexpected feature has fueled conversations, with many surprised at Hushpuppi’s continued influence despite his current circumstances. His message, which touches on the pressures of life and finding personal fulfillment, resonates with listeners, even from behind bars.
