A Nigerian man has taken to social media to share a stunning story of how he was arrested, sentenced to prison, and spent a year behind bars – all because of a pair of slippers.
In a viral video, the man recounted the events of January 6, 2024, when his life took a dramatic turn. After a night out with a friend at a birthday party, they stopped to buy fuel from a local woman. Unbeknownst to him, his friend’s slippers had torn, and in a split second, he grabbed a pair belonging to the woman’s son.
The woman accused them of theft, and despite apologies and explanations, the police were called, and they were arrested. To their surprise, they were sentenced to prison and spent a year incarcerated.
The man’s video testimony has sparked widespread reactions on social media, with many expressing outrage and sympathy.
