A new mother has shared her harrowing experience of developing Bell’s palsy, a condition that causes partial facial paralysis, during her pregnancy.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), she revealed that she was diagnosed with the condition, which affects the facial nerves, leading to paralysis on one side of the face.
Explaining her experience, she wrote: “Bell’s palsy makes it difficult to smile, laugh, drink water, eat, close your eyes, or even speak properly. The mouth bends to one side, and sometimes, there is drooling.”
Her story quickly gained attention, with many concerned individuals offering words of support and sharing their own experiences with similar health issues.
@ethan_onu Bell’s palsy is a condition where the nerves on one side of a person’s face become weak (basically the person is paralyzed on one side of the face) making it difficult to smile, laugh, drink water, eat, close your eyes, you drool sometimes etcetra basically you can’t do anything with that part of your face. The person’s mouth bends to one side cause you can only talk with one part of your mouth. It is common in women in their 3 trimester or women that just recently delivered.
