Nigerian singer Portable has publicly rebuked social commentator VeryDarkMan (VDM) following the latter’s recent criticism of music superstars Davido, Burna Boy, and Wizkid for their luxury car acquisitions.
In a viral video response, Portable defended the artists, asserting that they have made significant contributions to society, both publicly and privately. “VeryDarkMan, mind yourself. Mind the way you talk about Davido, Burna Boy, and Wizkid. They have helped lots of people. They have helped me too,” Portable declared.
He further revealed that Burna Boy had personally given him ₦20 million, while Davido recently donated ₦300 million to charitable causes — a gesture widely praised across social media. Portable questioned VDM’s moral ground for criticism, referencing the ₦100 million reportedly received from music producer Don Jazzy. “The ₦100 million Don Jazzy gave you, till today, how many schools have you built?” he asked.
The dispute stems from a previous video in which VDM called out the three music icons for spending billions of naira on exotic vehicles while Nigeria faces widespread economic hardship. VDM urged the celebrities to prioritize helping the poor over material display.
