A heated online confrontation has unfolded between Nigerian senator Ned Nwoko and political activist Omoyele Sowore, following controversial allegations made against actress Regina Daniels, Nwoko’s wife. The issue originated from a viral video featuring a man identified as Tumo, who accused Daniels of infidelity and questioned the paternity of her children, claiming they did not belong to the senator.
Tumo further alleged that the actress had been involved with several young men in Abuja.
In reaction to the serious accusations, Senator Nwoko had Tumo arrested, a move that drew backlash from various quarters, including Sowore, who took to social media to defend Tumo’s right to freedom of expression. Sowore’s intervention was met with strong disapproval from Nwoko, who condemned the activist’s stance and described him as a “miscreant” for supporting someone he referred to as a slanderer.
Amid the growing controversy, Tumo later retracted his claims, asserting that the video in question had been fabricated using artificial intelligence (AI) technology and did not reflect reality. Nonetheless, Ned Nwoko responded by re-posting the same video clip in which Tumo reaffirmed his accusations and challenged the senator to take legal action, insisting he possessed evidence.
In a subsequent public statement, Senator Nwoko reiterated his commitment to pursuing justice, asserting that the case was now before the court. He emphasized that the rule of law would take its course and reaffirmed his belief that truth and justice would ultimately prevail in the matter. The unfolding saga has drawn widespread attention, underscoring the intersection of politics, celebrity culture, and digital misinformation in Nigeria’s social media space.
Sharing the video on his official Instagram page today, Ned Nwoko wrote;
“This is who busybody jobless sowore is pretending to be defending. Sowore and the boy are miscreants and nonentities.
He challenged me to go to court. He has landed in the appropriate court and justice will take its course. One million cyber bullying idiots cant stop him from being prosecuted and punished as appropriate.”
