Popular Nigerian singer Reekado Banks has revealed that Wizkid privately apologized to him after publicly insulting him years ago.
The “Ozumba Mbadiwe” crooner shared this during an appearance on the Pulse Hot Takes YouTube show, just days after launching his new album “The Game Needs You,” which recently held a listening party attended by industry figures including Don Jazzy.
The incident dates back to October 2020 during the height of the #EndSARS protests. At the time, Reekado Banks had tweeted about releasing a song titled “Omo Olomo” featuring Wizkid, but the move didn’t sit well with Wizkid, who had paused all music promotion out of respect for the national mood. In response, Wizkid called Reekado a “fool” in a since-deleted tweet, criticizing him for promoting music during a sensitive period.
Speaking in the interview, Reekado confirmed that the issue has been resolved and described his current relationship with Wizkid as cool. He also disclosed that Wizkid had visited his restaurant and personally apologized for the outburst. However, not everyone was satisfied with the quiet resolution. Reality star Deeone commented online, stating he wouldn’t have accepted a private apology and insisted Wizkid should have apologized publicly since the insult was made in public.
