Popular Nigerian singer Reekado Banks has joined the global celebration of Wizkid’s 35th birthday today, July 16th, 2025, also widely recognized by fans as World Wizkid Day.
Taking to his official Instagram page, Reekado Banks posted a warm birthday message to Wizkid, along with a video showing the Grammy Award-winning artist visiting him at his restaurant. In the clip, the two singers were seen sharing a friendly conversation and exchanging hugs, a clear sign that past tensions have been resolved.
This comes shortly after Reekado Banks revealed in an interview that Wizkid had personally apologized to him for calling him a “fool” during the #EndSARS protests in 2020. At the time, Reekado had tweeted about releasing a collaborative song titled Omo Olomo with Wizkid, a move that angered Wizkid who felt the timing was inappropriate due to the ongoing national protests. Wizkid responded harshly on Twitter, publicly criticizing Reekado.
Despite that incident, the new birthday post shows the two stars have mended their relationship, putting the past behind them. Reekado, who recently dropped a new album, used the moment to celebrate Wizkid’s legacy and their renewed bond, receiving praise from fans for showing maturity and reconciliation.
Reekado Banks accompanied the video with the caption; “Happy birthday Eyan mi , my Bro Bro, Love and respect forever. @wizkidayo.”
