Aisha Hanan Buhari, daughter of the late former Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari, has stirred reactions online following her emotional interview with the BBC.
In the interview, she publicly thanked Nigerians for forgiving her father’s shortcomings during his time in office.
The former president, who led Nigeria from 2015 to 2023, passed away on Sunday, July 13, 2025, in a London hospital after a prolonged illness. He was buried two days later, on July 15, in Daura, Katsina State, with his family, President Tinubu, and other dignitaries in attendance.
Wearing a black dress and sunglasses, Aisha Hanan expressed her grief while speaking warmly about her father’s dedication to Nigeria. She stated that she accepts Allah’s will and will always cherish the memories she shared with him, describing him as a man who truly had the interests of Nigerians at heart.
She said; “On behalf of the family, we thank everyone who forgave our late father.”

@Energycrypt: You know what your papa do nigerians no good Na ogun go kill am inside grave again
@TimothyEze: Left for us, we have moved on since, let ur dad go and answer for all his deeds.
@Irunnia_ : God punish both of una. The second most useless president ever.
@ObaOfVibes: Even the family knows he offended people deeply. This isn’t your usual tribute — this is a subtle admission of guilt in a suit and tie. When a thank-you for forgiveness leads a eulogy, you already know the legacy isn’t spotless.
@princedegoke : Buhari did us shege and lots of people suffer but who are we to judge let the man rest it’s now between him and creator.
@Evansheartz: He has passed, and we respect that. But for those who lost loved ones to bandits, poverty, and failed systems forgiveness must come with justice, even if only in memory.
