Actress Mary Njoku has weighed in on the controversy surrounding Ibom Air passenger Comfort Emmanson, stating that she deserves compensation for the damage done to her life and dignity.
In a post shared on Instagram, Njoku said she understood the need to remove Emmanson from the aircraft but questioned why she was stripped in the process and the footage then shared online. She stressed that airline and airport staff are trained professionals and should not engage in actions that humiliate passengers.
“What I cannot understand is stripping her while doing so and then putting it all over the internet,” she wrote. “I refuse to believe that dehumanizing someone, stripping a woman naked, and broadcasting it online is part of that training, no matter what crime she may have committed.”
Her comments follow the viral video of Emmanson’s altercation with Ibom Air crew, which led to a lifetime flight ban from all Airline Operators of Nigeria member airlines and her remand in Kirikiri correctional facility.
