Popular Canadian singer, Celine Dion, made a notable appearance at the 66th Grammy Music Awards held at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, California on Sunday, February 4.
The 55-year-old music icon took a break from her singing career due to a rare neurological disorder called Stiff Person Syndrome. This disorder causes muscle stiffness and spasms, affecting the muscles used for singing and leading her to postpone and cancel her shows until 2024.
In a video capturing the Grammy event, Celine Dion, visibly emotional, was seen walking on stage with the support of her son, Rene-Charles. Her presence earned a standing ovation from fans as she presented the Album of the Year award to American singer Taylor Swift for her album “Midnights.”
Giving her speech, she said, “Thank you all… I love you right back… When I say that I’m happy to be here, I really mean it from my heart”.
“Those who have been blessed enough to be here at the Grammy Awards must never take for granted the tremendous love and joy that music brings to our lives and to people all around the world.”
“And now it gives me great joy to present a Grammy Award that two legends Diana Ross and Sting presented to me 27 years ago. These are the outstanding nominees for album of the year.”
