Nigerian gospel singer Mercy Chinwo recently delivered a touching musical performance at the funeral ceremony honoring the late Herbert Wigwe and his beloved family.
The funeral service, held at the Redeemed Christian Church of God in Isiokpo, Ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers State, gathered distinguished dignitaries, guests, and numerous mourners. The ceremony commemorated the lives of Dr. Herbert Wigwe, former CEO of Access Bank Plc, his wife Doreen, and son Chizzy.
Mercy Chinwo’s performance at the event stood out, capturing the audience with her powerful melodies and sparking a viral sensation.
The late Dr. Herbert Wigwe, his wife Doreen Chizoba, and first son Chizzy were laid to rest in a private tomb within the Wigwe University, a testament to his legacy. The burial took place after the funeral service at the Redeemed Christian Church of God, around 2:45 p.m. on Saturday.
Prominent figures such as Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory Rotimi Chibuike Amaechi, Governor Nyesom Wike, business magnate Aliko Dangote, HRH Muhammadu Sanusi II, Governor Alex Otti, Governor Dapo Abiodun, former Senate President Bukola Saraki, Governor Babajide Sawno-Olu, and former Governor of Anambra State Peter Obi were among those who attended the service.
At the graveside, emotions ran high as tears flowed freely during the solemn moment when the bodies were gently lowered into the earth.
The tragic incident that claimed the lives of Herbert Wigwe, his wife Doreen, and son Chizzy occurred in a helicopter crash near the Nevada border in California, United States of America. Abimbola Ogunbanjo, Chairman of Nigerian Exchange Group Plc, was also aboard the ill-fated helicopter.
