Nigerian disc jockey and billionaire’s daughter, DJ Cuppy, has opened up about her regrets regarding her past engagement with Ryan Taylor.
In a recent online video, she expressed remorse for not saying ‘No’ when he proposed, citing 2023 as the worst year of her life because she struggled to decline.
The 31-year-old hitmaker and Ryan Taylor had a surprise engagement in November 2022 but went their separate ways in July 2023, just seven months later. Speaking at a conference for International Women’s Day on March 6, DJ Cuppy shared her realization that it is okay to say ‘No’ at times and emphasized her determination not to repeat the mistake of not declining when necessary.
In her words, “One of the things I have learned is saying no. I had one of the worst years of my life last year because I couldn’t say no. I didn’t say no to opportunities that I should have said no to. I didn’t say no to a fiancé I should’ve said no to. I didn’t say no to taking things on”.
“I was at the BBC; I had a morning breakfast show, then I was DJing, i was planning a wedding, I was in Oxford University. I burnt myself out. And none of us are either good to ourselves or other people when we burnt out. So, we have to deal with that guilt that comes with saying no. It’s okay to say no.”
