Popular Nigerian singer Solid Star has made headlines again after discussing his health struggles related to the use of hard substances during a recent appearance on the Honest Bunch Podcast.
In the video snippet shared online, Solid Star, also known as Joshua Iniyezo, shared his experiences with hard substances and how they have impacted him.
The Omotena crooner revealed that he was introduced to ‘Ice’ by some young individuals in 2021, and he described the substance as having a detrimental effect on him.
Solid Star explained that after using the hard substance, he would feel an inflated sense of importance, with a voice urging him not to pay for things. He also recounted a specific incident where he walked from Awoyaya, a location on the Lagos mainland, to the Oriental Hotel on the island, a journey that would normally take several hours.
This revelation from Solid Star has sparked discussions among netizens, highlighting the importance of addressing substance abuse and mental health issues in the music industry.
In his words:
“A lot of things happened to me o, young boys come introduce me to this substance, Ice, this was three years back. This thing really do bad, asin the thing affect me a lot. This substance now, sometimes the thing go tell me say ‘you’re a king, you’re this, you’re that.’ E go tell me say I don be king, make I no dey pay stuff. Can you imagine say I waka from Awoyaya to Oriental Hotel!”
