Popular Nollywood actress Funke Akindele was seen in a video shedding tears profusely after being accused of neglecting the late actress Aderounmi Adejumoke.
Celebrities and fans alike have been mourning the passing of Aderounmi Adejumoke, renowned for her role as “Esther” in the hit series Jeniffer Diary. She passed away on April 6th, 2024, at the age of 40, having been absent from the screen for an extended period.
Funke Akindele joined the ranks of Nigerian celebrities expressing grief on social media over Adejumoke’s death. However, Adejumoke’s brother, Adeola Aderounmu, called out Funke Akindele, labeling her as “terrible” and a “hypocrite,” alleging that she ignored his sister’s attempts to reach out.
In response, during an Instagram live session with her fans, Funke Akindele claimed ignorance about Aderounmu Adejumoke’s illness, stating that she even inquired about her from her close friend, actor Jide Awobona, due to their prolonged absence from each other’s presence.
Funke Akindele went on to reveal her personal struggles, including the loss of her mother and difficulties in her marriage, leading her to feel depressed. Her emotions escalated during the live session when a netizen suggested she would bury her twins after Adejumoke’s passing, prompting Funke to break down in tears.
Expressing her distress, Funke emphasized that she would have extended help if she had known about Adejumoke’s condition before her demise. She also mentioned sending a message to Adejumoke’s grieving brother, but had not received a response.
In her words; “I was depressed, I lost my mother & my marriage. Stop saying I’ll bvry my own children. I have my trying moments too.”
