A Nigerian woman has stirred intense conversation on TikTok after revealing a long-hidden family secret involving her late grandmother, who allegedly maintained two separate families in different parts of the country without either husband ever finding out.
In the viral video, the young lady explained that her grandmother, a seasoned businesswoman, frequently traveled between Ibadan and the Northern region of Nigeria, which allowed her to live a double life undetected for years.
According to the testimony, the late grandmother had six children with each husband, totaling 12 children, all of whom were raised believing they were part of one cohesive family. It was only after the grandmother’s death that the truth reportedly came to light, shocking both sides of the family.
The story has sparked widespread debate online, with users reacting to the moral, emotional, and cultural complexities of the situation. While some expressed outrage and disbelief, others marveled at how such a secret could be kept for so long in the digital age.
In her words: “My paternal grandma is such an OG. I mean, there is nothing new under the sun, but how this woman got away with having two families without either husband finding out still amazes me.”
“She was a traveler in the ’80s, often spending months or even years trading in the North, then returning to Ibadan for long periods too. She had a family here in Ibadan and bore six children, of which I am the first grandchild.”
“This woman also had another family of six in the North, and no one knew until her death this year. She was giving birth to children for my granddad in Ibadan and at the same time doing the same for her other husband in Kaduna. We’re all still in shock and trying to process it.”
