Popular Nigerian singer David Adeleke, professionally known as Davido, has once again won hearts with his humility and showmanship at the Dangote Cement Customer Awards and Gala Night held on May 27th, 2025, at Eko Hotels and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos.
The star-studded event, graced by some of Nigeria’s most prominent figures, saw Davido deliver a thrilling live performance that had the audience on their feet. But it was his respectful gesture before taking the stage that truly stole the spotlight.
As he walked in, Davido greeted the dignitaries one by one, acknowledging those older than him with visible reverence. When he approached Africa’s richest man, Aliko Dangote, he respectfully called him “My Godfather”. On reaching Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, he addressed him as “001”, a popular slang for top leaders. He also exchanged a friendly “hi five” with Peter Okoye of PSquare.
The moment drew admiration both from the live audience and online viewers, with many praising Davido for remaining grounded despite his global fame. The display of respect is being widely shared as an example of good upbringing and strong Nigerian values.
