The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has summoned Subomi and Wahab Okoya, sons of billionaire Razaq Okoya, for questioning over allegations of naira abuse.EFCC

The summons, issued by Michael Wetkas, Acting Director of the EFCC’s Lagos office, requests the brothers to appear at the commission’s office on Monday, January 13, 2025.

The controversy surrounds a promotional video for a new song, where the Okoya brothers are seen with a police officer holding stacks of N1,000 notes. The video sparked widespread backlash on social media.

The police officer featured in the video has been arrested and detained, facing disciplinary action for unethical conduct. The Nigeria Police Force spokesperson, Muyiwa Adejobi, confirmed the officer’s arrest and criticized his involvement in the video.

Following the officer’s arrest, many Nigerians took to social media, demanding that the Okoya brothers also face consequences for their role in the naira abuse. Social media influencer VeryDarkMan released a video calling for equal justice, urging the police to act against the billionaire’s sons.

The EFCC’s summons suggests that the commission is taking steps to address the allegations and ensure accountability.
