Renowned Nigerian artist Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun, popularly known as Wizkid, recently shared a poignant revelation about the profound impact of losing his mother on his life.
Through his official Instagram page’s insta-stories section, Wizkid conveyed that life has taken on a sense of emptiness for him since the loss of his mother.
On December 20th, 2023, Wizkid unveiled the tracklist for his upcoming EP, “Soundman Vol.2,” using this platform to open up about the emotional void left by his mother’s passing. The artist, who had posted a picture of himself undergoing detoxification at a hospital the day before, had earlier announced the EP’s release, featuring four tracks scheduled to drop on December 22nd, 2023.
Wizkid, who has been residing in Lagos since his mother’s burial party in October, expressed that the experience of losing his mother brought him face to face with the stark realities of life.
He candidly shared that life has lost its meaning for him since her departure. Furthermore, Wizkid disclosed that one of the songs on his upcoming EP, titled “IdK” and featuring Zlatan Ibile, was created just days after the heartbreaking loss of his mother, serving as a poignant reflection of the emotional journey he has been navigating.
Wizkid wrote; “Make idk days after I lost my mum. Life’s been meaningless! but we dey!”
