A 200-level university studenthas achieved a significant milestone as he lands a well-payingremote job, all while still in school.
The student, whose identity remains undisclosed, applied for this foreign position and successfully navigated the rigorous interview process, earning him an enviable monthly salary of $3,000, equivalent to a sum of N3.2 million in today’s foreign exchange rate.
With this high-paying job, he will earn an annual income of $36,000, which is equivalent to over N28.2 million at the current exchange rate.
The news of his achievement quickly spread on the social media.
The student expressed his desire to move abroad after finishing their university studies.
However, this higher income also brings responsibilities, specifically in terms of taxes.
The student turned to Twitter influencer Wizarab, for advice on whether he’d need to pay taxes on his remote job earnings.
@Abigailsam18 said: “No, you don’t. I believe before your salary comes in, there are some deductions which might include tax as well, if do, you don’t need to pay taxes again.”
@OfficialDadyA2 commented: “You don’t need to pay taxes. You are good.”
@ObioraChinyeree said: “I don’t think taxes have anything to do with japaing. Maybe someone else knows better. Plus you’re a student.”
@8043_Ghost said: “He should go for it. N2.3 million salary every month is not small and will go a long way in creating wealth for him in Nigeria if he makes smart investments.”
