A Nigerian man has shared a deeply personal account of financial hardship despite spending 16 years working in the banking sector.
Speaking in an interview with media personality Lucky Udu, the man expressed his frustration over earning a monthly salary of just ₦130,000, a figure he described as inadequate considering his long service in the industry.
He explained that, despite his experience and years of dedication, his earnings were not enough to sustain him through the month. As a result, he often found himself in debt before receiving his next paycheck. The emotional account shed light on the broader struggles faced by many workers in Nigeria’s banking industry, where long hours and high pressure are frequently not matched by commensurate pay.

“Presently I earn N130K. Even after salary is paid, I have to borrow money to survive for the next one month. Your supervisor can even send you to buy pepper or buy water. And you call yourself a banker. It’s as terrible as that. Why would I be working in a financial organisation and I do not have financial sustainability… I made that video out of frustration because I had been employed as a contract staff for the past 16 years. “
