Popular Nigerian rapper and singer Omoniyi Temidayo Raphael, better known as Zlatan Ibile, has taken to social media to celebrate his journey as a musical artist.
On his verified Instagram page today, May 29th, 2024, Zlatan Ibile reflected on his humble beginnings. He shared a photo from ten years ago when he won a car at a talent show.
At 19, Zlatan Ibile won the Airtel-sponsored 2014 edition of the “One Mic Campus Tour” music competition in Abeokuta, Ogun State, receiving a car as the prize.
In 2017, Zlatan Ibile gained recognition in the Nigerian music industry with his song “My Body,” featuring Olamide.
Since then, Zlatan Ibile has remained consistent, producing several hit songs and earning numerous awards. Recently, he opened a luxurious walk-in store and is now worth millions of naira, owning expensive houses and cars.
Zlatan Ibile has collaborated with top artists such as Davido, Burna Boy, Wizkid, Naira Marley, Tiwa Savage, Asake, and Mohbad.
Known for the slang “Kapaichumerimerichupako,” Zlatan Ibile reminisced about the 2014 talent show, stating that ten years ago, he was just an aspiring footballer until his 2017 collaboration with Olamide changed his career from football to music.
He also thanked the students of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic (Mapoly) in Abeokuta for their support during the competition.
Now a father of one, Zlatan Ibile expressed disbelief that it has been ten years since winning the car, adding that he will continue to push forward and stay strong.
Zlatan Ibile wrote; “10 years ago, there was no Zlatan Ibile. All there was, was an aspiring footballer. Mapoly students believed in me by ensuring I won this contest! From then, everything changed from football to music. I did not have 2 personal songs let alone a hit until 2017 with Baddo. Thank you to every Mapoly student who stood by me. Thank you Day 1 Zlatanovaz. Can’t believe today makes it exactly 10 years already… And we’re still going strong. ZTTW!.”
