A Nigerian soldier, who recently completed a year-long mission in Maiduguri, Borno state, is facing a heartbreaking situation as he reunites with his family.

The soldier expressed deep distress over his inability to afford the N35,000 transport fare required for his return journey.

In a video circulating online, the soldier shared that he was granted a break after spending a year in the Maiduguri bush. However, upon reaching the park, he was informed of the N35,000 transportation cost for the return trip, a sum beyond his financial means.

The distraught soldier, earning a monthly salary of only N50,000, explained that the round-trip transportation cost would amount to N70,000. Faced with the financial challenge, he expressed the difficult decision to consider returning to the Maiduguri bush due to the unaffordable transport fare, despite the emotional desire to be with his family. The situation highlights the financial hardships faced by some members of the military, even as they fulfill their duties.
