Popular Nigerian singer and songwriter Ayra Starr, also known as Oyinkansola Sarah Aderibigbe, has shared insights into her relationship with her mother and the significant influence her mother has on her life, despite her own success as an artist.
During a guest appearance on Beat FM, Ayra Starr spoke about her Grammy nomination, teased a new album, and shared details about her spending habits. She highlighted the continuing influence of her African mother, stating that, despite being in the 21st century, her mother exhibits characteristics typical of an African mom.
Ayra Starr shared an experience where she wanted to buy a luxurious item, and though she could afford it, she refrained from doing so because her mom would express concern about extravagant spending. She mentioned her mother’s habit of calling her around 2 AM after shows, checking on her and her team’s safety. Ayra Starr also revealed that her mom would contact her manager and team to ensure their well-being after performances.
