Popular Nigerian TikToker Habeeb Hamzat Adelaja, widely known as Peller, has opened up about the difficult circumstances that affected his academic performance during his secondary school years.
Speaking during a TikTok live session with media personality Frank Edoho, Peller reflected on the personal challenges he faced as a teenager, revealing that he became the breadwinner of his family at just 19 years old. He explained that his early responsibilities at home took a toll on his education.
According to him, unlike his peers who were held accountable by their parents for poor results, he didn’t have that structure. His parents were divorced at the time, and he was living with his mother, a woman who, though supportive, was constantly occupied with trying to provide for the family.
“There was no one to scold me for my bad grades,” he said, noting that the absence of parental pressure or consistent monitoring left him academically unmotivated.
This revelation comes shortly after a viral video showed Peller in tears following a reported breakup with his girlfriend, Jadrolita, which was allegedly linked to a genotype issue.
Peller’s honest admission has sparked empathy online, with many relating to the challenges of growing up in difficult family environments while trying to meet societal expectations in both academics and relationships.
