Iran has reportedly launched a fresh missile strike on Israel, resulting in at least four civilian deaths and several injuries, despite earlier claims by Tehran that a ceasefire had already taken effect.
The strike targeted the southern Israeli city of Beersheba, where Israel’s emergency medical service, Magen David Adom (MDA), confirmed the fatalities and reported that at least two others were moderately injured. Around 20 additional people were treated for minor injuries or stress-related symptoms.
This latest escalation occurred just hours after Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi declared that Iran had concluded its military retaliation against Israel as of 4 a.m. local time. However, Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) reported incoming missile alerts in various parts of the country before 6 a.m., suggesting continued hostilities.
The renewed violence came shortly after U.S. President Donald Trump announced a ceasefire deal, claiming in a Truth Social post that both Iran and Israel had agreed to halt operations within 24 hours to end the 12-day conflict. According to the deal, both parties were expected to begin scaling back their military actions ahead of the full implementation of the ceasefire.
Despite the announcement, tensions remain high, with Israeli officials warning of ongoing missile threats from Iran. Tehran, meanwhile, has maintained that it does not intend to continue military operations, provided Israel also ceases its attacks.
