Tech Queen Sapphire Egemasi who gets arrested by the FBI over multi-million dollar U.S. Government fraud

Nigerian programmer Sapphire Egemasi, widely recognized online as a “tech queen,” has been placed at the center of a serious federal investigation following her arrest by the FBI in April 2025.

She was apprehended in the Bronx, New York, alongside other suspects, including a Ghanaian national, Samuel Kwadwo Osei, who is believed to be the ringleader of a sophisticated fraud syndicate. The group has been accused of orchestrating a large-scale internet fraud and money laundering scheme that allegedly defrauded U.S. government agencies of millions of dollars.

According to court filings, the crimes were said to have occurred between September 2021 and February 2023. Egemasi was alleged to have played a technical role in the operation by creating fraudulent U.S. government websites designed to capture login credentials. These stolen credentials were reportedly used to access public funds, which were subsequently redirected into bank accounts controlled by the syndicate. Two notable transactions in 2022—amounting to \$965,000 and \$330,000—were allegedly siphoned from the city of Kentucky and deposited into accounts at PNC Bank and Bank of America.

It has been revealed that Egemasi previously resided in Cambridge, UK, and is believed to have established contact with her co-conspirators in Ghana several years ago. Over time, she assumed the role of the syndicate’s lead tech expert, with her activities spanning both Nigeria and the United States. In efforts to conceal the origin of her income, she allegedly claimed to have interned at well-known companies such as BP, H\&M, and Zara.

Investigators have noted her strong social media presence, where she often shared images of luxury vacations in locations such as Greece and Portugal, portraying an affluent lifestyle seemingly built on her career in tech.

Currently, Egemasi and her co-defendants remain in custody in Lexington, Kentucky, as they await trial. If found guilty, they face severe legal consequences, including up to 20 years in federal prison, substantial financial penalties, and potential deportation.

This summary adheres to online platform guidelines, emphasizing responsible reporting while avoiding sensationalism, and presenting facts in a clear and informative manner using passive voice.
