Tunde Ednut reveals Why Wizkid is more highly respected than Davido and Burna Boy in Africa [Video]

In a video shared online, popular Nigerian blogger Tunde Ednut expressed his views on why Grammy Award winner Wizkid is more highly respected than other African artists such as Davido and Burna Boy.

According to Tunde Ednut, Wizkid’s respect in Africa is not solely based on his musical prowess but also on his significant role in changing the treatment of African artists at the BET Awards.

Before 2018, African artists received their awards backstage or in front of an empty audience at the BET Awards. In 2017, Wizkid won the BET Best International Act but chose not to attend the event. He not only refused to show up but also called out BET, expressing his discontent in an interview. Wizkid stated that if the BET Awards couldn’t show the same love to African artists as they did to international artists on the main stage, then they shouldn’t show any love at all.

The impact of Wizkid’s stance was evident the following year when Davido secured the award. His award was presented to him during the main show in front of a live audience, marking a shift in the treatment of African artists at the BET Awards. Since then, African artists have been accorded the same respect as their American counterparts at the BET Awards.
