Emdee Tiamiyu, a Nigerian YouTuber based in the United Kingdom, has been arrested on fraud charges. This development comes after a controversial interview with the BBC where Tiamiyu discussed Nigerian immigrants in the UK, suggesting some misuse the student visa system for employment and family relocation purposes.

Following the interview, the UK government implemented restrictions on Nigerian students, particularly regarding bringing relatives unless enrolled in PhD programs. Subsequently, Tiamiyu is accused of defrauding the UK government of £160,000, reportedly allocated for resettlement but allegedly diverted to build a house in Nigeria.

Official statements from the UK government on the arrest and fraud allegations are awaited, highlighting potential implications for bilateral relations and the Nigerian community in the UK.

rosythrone: Karma can be delayed but can never be denied!!

bhee_chee: I don’t know if it’s wrong to say this but…… “Thank you Jesus 🙌🙌🙌🙌.

thegreenceoo: The UK government needs to DEPORT his WIDE MOUTH BACK Home.

thegeniusdr_:Why are we hearing news of the arrest of two notoriously loquacious people on the same day 🤭 bridling your tongue will save you from a whole lot of wahala 🚶🏿‍♂️.

vv_348: He got over 160,000 pounds for asylum settlement? How do ya’ll come up with these stories? 160,000 pounds for asylum benefits how exactly? Gosh.

nnenna_blinks_: I hope some Nigerians abroad can learn from this. If you sell your people to the Yt mañ to gain favour and look different They will always look at you the same. Take a look at the Indians, afghans and Pakistanis abroad. They would always put their brothers on and shield them if a code has been decoded. But we rather sell our own to appear more righteoús.
