A Nigerian woman’s admiration for popular Korean actor Lee Min Ho has unexpectedly transformed her life and career, leading her to a prestigious role with the Korean government in Nigeria.
The story, shared on X (formerly Twitter) by user @Nekie_neka, revealed how what began as a simple desire to say “hello” to her favorite actor in Korean turned into a life-changing journey.
According to her, she originally planned to learn just enough Korean to tell Lee Min Ho, “Hello, I love your dramas, can I call you oppa, and can I take a picture?” However, her passion quickly deepened. She mastered the language, went on to win a Korean language speaking contest, and became a Korean teacher, content creator, interpreter, and influencer.
Eventually, her dedication earned her a job with the Korean government’s office in Nigeria.
In her words:
“I currently earn a living because I have a crush on a Korean actor. I wanted to be able to tell him something sweet in Korean, so I started learning the language.”
She later added:
“Absolutely! It’s the delectably handsome Lee Min Ho. He acted like he was owing rent for 7 years in City Hunter and made me fall completely in love with him. Unfortunately, I haven’t met him yet.”
One year since my delulu love for Lee Min Ho turned into a real, paying job!🤭🥳🥰
One year of waking up at 5:00 a.m. to beat Lagos traffic (something I never thought I could do as a former freelancer😭)
One year since my French and Spanish studies started suffering🥲

I was again opportuned to be flown to Abuja to interpret Korean at the Nigerian Customs Training and Doctrine Command, Gwagwalada.
I’m grateful to the commandant, training director and all the officers who were so kind and welcoming.
