Michael Santiago Render, born on April 20, 1975, and widely known by his stage name Killer Mike, is an American rapper and activist. He started his recording career by making his debut on Outkast’s fourth album, Stankonia (2000).

Later, he featured on their Grammy Award-winning single, “The Whole World,” which was part of their greatest hits album Big Boi and Dre Present… Outkast (2001).

Killer Mike signed with Big Boi’s Purple Ribbon Records, known then as Aquemini Records, and Columbia Records. His debut studio album, “Monster,” was released in 2003, gaining critical acclaim and reaching number ten on the Billboard 200 chart.

Killer Mike career

Mike’s first recorded appearance was on Outkast’s fourth album, Stankonia (2000). He also featured on the Grammy Award-winning track “The Whole World” from Outkast’s greatest hits album Big Boi and Dre Present… Outkast (2001).

His debut studio album, “Monster” (2003), received praise from critics and reached number 10 on the Billboard 200. He signed with Columbia Records and Big Boi’s Purple Ribbon Records (formerly known as Aquemini Records).

Following that, he released independent albums, “I Pledge Allegiance to the Grind” (2006) and “I Pledge Allegiance to the Grind II” (2008). In 2022, he earned an Emmy Award for his monthly interview program, “Love & Respect” (2021–present), broadcast on the Public Broadcasting Service (PBS).

Additionally, Mike has appeared in films like “ATL” (2006), “Idlewild” (2006), and “20 Funerals.” He has also lent his voice to the Adult Swim series “Frisky Dingo” from 2006 to 2008, portraying the character of rapper/actor-turned-U.S. President Taqu’il.

In an episode of “Aqua Teen Hunger Force” called “The Same” on Adult Swim, Mike made a cameo by providing his voice for a Boost Mobile phone.

He made two appearances on the unconventional comedy series “The Eric Andre Show” on Adult Swim. In 2012, he enthusiastically supported a female opera singer, and in 2014, he engaged in a rap battle with Action Bronson, both while walking on treadmills.
