Award-winning Nigerian singer Davido has sparked mixed reactions online following a tweet he posted during the controversial 7/7 date, widely known for its ties to cult-related symbolism in Nigeria.
The singer, popular for his active social media presence, tweeted “Happy Metal,” a phrase many interpreted as a nod to the Black Team — a term often linked with the Neo-Black Movement (NBM), also known as Black Axe.
According to reports from platforms like Federal Character and Daily Post, “Metal” is believed to be a symbolic term referring to the group’s axe emblem. July 7, 1977, is said to mark the founding date of the NBM, which claims to be non-violent but has been linked to criminal activities by various media outlets.
While Davido has not publicly clarified the tweet’s intent, past speculation and public appearances have fueled ongoing conversations about his alleged ties to the group.
