Presidential spokesman, Ajuri Ngelale, affirmed that President Bola Tinubu remains committed to intervening in states grappling with political crises if such developments pose a threat to the overall well-being of the country.

During a pre-recorded segment on Channels Television’s News Night, aired on Monday, Ajuri defended the President’s decisions to intervene in political crises in Ondo and Rivers State.

Despite facing criticism asserting that such actions undermined the autonomy of those states, Ajuri maintained that the President’s interventions were justified and aligned with the greater national interest.

This stance reflects the President’s dedication to maintaining stability and cohesion across the country, even in the face of regional political challenges.

“That has nothing to do with, of course, political development, destabilisation of a particular region or state or subnational entity that could potentially turn into a national conflagration

“If the President sees that, he is not going to sit by as the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces and fold his hands and keep quiet. I think that is what he has done,” he stated.

The presidential aide further emphasized that Nigerians anticipate responsible leadership from President Bola Tinubu’s government. Acknowledging the myriad economic challenges inherited by the current administration, Ajuri asserted that the President is diligently implementing measures to address and overcome these issues.

This acknowledgment underscores the administration’s commitment to proactive governance and its ongoing efforts to navigate and rectify the economic complexities inherited upon assuming office.

“You combine all of these factors, obviously, our debt burden is another factor, you would know there is no easy fix; there is no magic wand solution to this. There is going to be pain before pleasure,”  he said.
