France’s Ligue 1 and 2 seasons gets ‘cancelled’ due to the Coronavirus Pandemic; PSG likely to take title

France’s Ligue 1 and Ligue 2 2019/20 seasons have declared canceled due to the Coronavirus pandemic – according to reports, the current plan is to start the 2020/21 season in the next four months.

The announcement comes a week after French Professional Football League (LFP) announced plans for Ligue 1 and Ligue 2 to resume on June 17, with UEFA setting a deadline of August 2 for domestic leagues to be completed.

However, on Tuesday afternoon, French prime minister Edouard Philippe announced that all sporting events will be cancelled until September, as part of the next stage of their lockdown plans beyond May 11.

Speaking at a press conference, Philippe said,

“The big sporting affairs cannot occur before September. The 2019/20 football season cannot return.”

French football bosses will reportedly meet in May to determine on how the tables for this season should be defined and which teams will be promoted and relegated.

They will also decide who will be given European places at the same meeting and if PSG, who are 12 points clear at the top, will be crowned champions.

Mauro Icardi Agrees Deadline Day Move To PSG

Inter Milan Striker, Mauro Icardi has reportedly agreed a deadline day loan move to Paris Saint-Germain.

Calcio Mercato claims the Inter Milan exile will link up with Neymar and Kylian Mbappe before the European transfer window slams shut this evening.

Icardi, 26, was told earlier this summer that he was surplus to requirements at the San Siro by new boss Antonio Conte.

Inter then backed up their words with action as they splashed £74million on Manchester United’s Romelu Lukaku.

But when Icardi’s proposed switch to Juventus failed to materialise, it seemed Conte – who has a history of alienating strikers – would be stuck with the Argentina international.

However, PSG have made a late loan move for Icardi with Mbappe and Cavani sidelined due to injury and uncertainty over Neymar’s future.

PSG Fined €2,000 After Its Fans Abused Neymar

Paris Saint-Germain have been fined €2,000, after their fans unfurled an offensive banner aimed at Neymar during their Ligue 1 win over Nimes.

Neymar was targeted by fans during the 3-0 victory at Parc des Princes on August 11, amid growing speculation he wants to leave the club.

One banner urged the 27-year-old to leave the Ligue 1 champions, while another expressed dissatisfaction with his behaviour.

Chants of “Son of a b*tch” also rang out in the stands among home fans.

The Ligue de Football Professionnel (LFP) Disciplinary Committee announced sanctions on Wednesday, said in a statement:

“Behaviour of the supporters of Paris Saint-Germain: use of pyrotechnic devices and deployment of an offensive banner. “€2,000 fine for Paris Saint-Germain.”

Neymar is yet to play for PSG this season, amid reports he will return to Barcelona or join LaLiga giants Real Madrid.

‘Beating PSG 6-1 My Best Footballing Memory’ – Neymar Says As He MOCKS His Own Club

Brazilian footballer, Neymar has mocked his current club Paris Saint-Germain by admitting his best memory on a football pitch was beating them 6-1 with his former club, Barcelona.

The clash which went down in 2017, is regarded as one of the greatest comebacks in Champions League history. Barcelona were 4-0 down after the first leg, but shocked PSG with a 6-1 victory in the second leg to complete a magical comeback.

When asked in an interview to describe his best moment on a pitch, Neymar who scored twice in the game admitted: ‘The best memory in a locker room? Ahhh… I don’t know…

‘Well, when we won against PSG with Barcelona, it was completely… we all went crazy afterwards.

‘I believe it was the best possible feeling for all of us.’

He added: ‘What we felt when we scored the sixth goal, I never felt something like this. It was incredible.’

Neymar, who has failed to report for the start of pre-season training with the French giants, is currently enduring a difficult relationship with PSG and he is seeking for a return back to Barcelona.

Last month, has told his current club that he ‘wants to go’ back to Barcelona, where he should ‘never have left’.

Mbappe Snubs PSG New Deal, Wants Move To Real Madrid

Kylian Mbappe hold told Paris Saint-Germain that his long-term future lies elsewhere, Marca reports. The 20-year-old has spent two seasons at PSG and his current contract is not due to expire until 2022.

Real Madrid have long been admirers of Mbappe and are keeping tabs on his situation.

The France international is one of PSG’s best-paid players and Real would be unable to compete with the Ligue 1 outfit in a straight wage war.

But it is believed that money is not Mbappe’s primary motivation and that he is keen to win trophies and awards.

He has therefore made it clear to PSG that he has no intention of extending his contract in Paris no matter how large their financial offer.

Real are unlikely to move for Mbappe this summer having already spent big on Eden Hazard from Chelsea, who could get as much as £150million from the deal.

‘Behave Yourself, Nobody Forced You To Sign Here’ – PSG President Nasser Al-Khelaifi Warns Neymar

Paris Saint-Germain president, Nasser Al-Khelaifi has taken a swipe at Brazilian forward Neymar over his behaviour.

The former Barcelona star joined the Ligue 1 outfit for £198million back in 2017, but during the end of last season, he got himself into some issues and was handed five match ban.

Speaking in an interview with France Football, Al-Khelaifi, who took over PSG eight years ago, addressed some issues about some players at the club including Neymar, the world’s most expensive player.

‘I want players willing to give everything to defend the honour of the jersey and to join the club project,’ he said in an interview with France Football.

‘Those who do not want, or do not understand, we see each other and we talk to each other.

‘There are of course contracts to be respected, but the priority now is total membership of our project. Nobody forced him to sign here. Nobody pushed him. He came knowingly to join a project.’

According to L’Equipe, PSG is considering selling him and they will be happy to accept ‘a large offer’ for Neymar, whose future at the club is uncertain with Real Madrid and Barcelona keen ready to battle for his signature.
