Soldiers who gained attention online for expressing concerns about insufficient funds to visit home after extended service on the war front have been detained by the Nigerian army.

As previously reported by FLvibe, one of the soldiers shared his situation, mentioning the inflated transport costs forcing him to return to Maiduguri.

Acknowledging the high transport fare, he explained that his salary couldn’t cover a round trip, leading him to return home. Unfortunately, the Nigerian army did not respond positively to the video, accusing the soldier of embarrassing the military. As a result, they have taken action by detaining the individual for his actions.

@DanielRegha opined: “Trying to silent an officer for crying out is nothing but tyranny; On a real, Nigerian soldiers should be earning more than N50,000 especially with the situation of things. These people risk their lives on a daily basis, politicians who practically do nothing are making millions. This is shamfu!.”

@ChubieUjah reacted: “Gosh 🤦🏾‍♂️ but he didn’t even criticize anyone, he only lamented about his reality.”

@_iRoyalty_ added: “I knew this was going to happen…They’d discipline the life out of him and send him to the war front to die. It’s the typical of “suffer and smile” as seen in the Nigerian Military.”

@Roseangel009 said: “What a country! There is freedom of speech we claim, but freedom after speech is not guaranteed in Nigeria.”
