Nigerian Afrobeat singer Ahmed Ololade, popularly known as Asake, has set tongues wagging online following his recent actions toward his music record label, YBNL, founded by rapper Olamide.

A thorough check on his social media page making the rounds online showed that the ‘Terminator’ crooner has removed YBNL from his Instagram bio. This action has led to widespread speculation about his relationship with the label.

Asake, unquestionably one of the top Afrobeat stars in Nigeria, has gained significant recognition since being signed by Olamide in 2022. His debut album, “Mr. Money with the Vibe,” released in September 2022, set a new record for the biggest opening day for an African album on Apple Music.

In 2022, the 29-year-old singer was named Breakout Artist of the Year at the All Africa Music Awards and earned his first international nomination for Best African Music Act at the 2022 MOBO Awards. On September 4, 2023, Asake won the highly coveted Next Rated category at the Headies Awards, walking home with a brand new car. In November 2023, he received his first Grammy nomination at the 66th Annual Grammy Awards for his song ‘Amapiano’ featuring Olamide.

In 2024, Asake continued his successful run with the release of his single ‘Only Me,’ which gained substantial traction across music streaming platforms.

However, his recent actions on Instagram have triggered massive reactions as social media users speculated about Asake’s deal with Olamide’s label. This development comes weeks after Asake unfollowed everyone on Instagram, including Olamide, and deleted his posts on the photo-sharing platform.

The removal of YBNL from his bio has fueled rumors of a possible rift between Asake and the label, leaving fans and followers eager to know the real story behind the changes. Asake has yet to make any official statements regarding his relationship with YBNL, keeping fans in suspense about his next move.
