VeryDarkMan Reveals Why no Nigerian artist won the Grammy Awards [Video]

Well-known activist VeryDarkMan looked into why the Grammy Awards didn’t give any awards to the five Nigerian artists who were nominated in 2024: Burna Boy, Davido, Asake, Olamide, and Ayra Starr. Unfortunately, none of them won.

In response, VeryDarkMan criticized the Grammys, saying they are trying to stop Afrobeat from taking full control over them.

Supporting his arguments, VeryDarkMan said that the album “This Moment” by Shakti, which won the Best Global Music Album, doesn’t even have one million views on YouTube.

He also said that he only found out about Tyla yesterday and thought Ayra Starr, who praised the song “Water,” was the one who sang it.

VeryDarkMan suggests that the Grammy Awards extended many nominations to Nigerian performers to make the awards ceremony more interesting.

Check out some reactions below

Eyitayo wrote: “I don’t know about the album own but you see that tyla own na only mumu go say them rob Davido there, am sure Davido himself knows Tyla would get that award coz Water was a hit worldwide na we Africans dey hear Unavailable”

Mheracle said: “Make all man actually leave bant sha. Davido or at least Burna boy suppose carry this award. Fash bants🤌”

Levilee asked: “How will your rob someone that has nothing.. meaning lyrics and 5x remix of one song that has no meaning . Explain what unavailable means and why it should win a Grammy. 🙄”
